Fixing Common Key Mistakes

Turn a repeated error into a specific practice target.

Choose one key group

Start with the key that appears repeatedly in your mistake review. Check the finger assignment and the nearby keys that you tend to press instead.

Use a short sequence

Practise the target key with a few surrounding letters. This reveals whether the difficulty is reaching the key or transitioning into and out of it.

Move back into text

Use a word or sentence containing the pattern. Avoid spending the whole session on an isolated letter that does not resemble normal typing.

Check the next result

Review mistakes per comparable amount of typing rather than raw counts alone. A longer session can contain more errors even when the error rate has improved.

Put the guide into practice

Choose one focus for your next session.
