Symbols, Enter & Backspace
A practical reference for modifiers and keys outside ordinary words.
Follow the base key
A shifted symbol keeps the finger assignment of its base key and adds opposite-hand Shift. For example, an exclamation mark uses the 1 key with the left pinky plus right Shift.
Use control keys deliberately
The shared typing guide assigns Enter and Backspace to the right pinky. Whether Backspace is allowed during an exam depends on that exam configuration, not on this reference.
Check symbols on your layout
Brackets, braces, slash, backslash and quotation marks are easy to confuse when reading quickly. Identify the exact character in the source and confirm the matching keycap on your keyboard.
Practise with a purpose
Use short references, quoted sentences or simple expressions that contain the symbol. Avoid adding modifiers or control keys that the current activity does not request.

Left-hand characters use Right Shift; right-hand characters use Left Shift. Each Shift key uses its own hand's pinky. Shifted symbols keep the base key's finger assignment.
This QWERTY reference follows the shared KeyTute finger mapping. Other layouts and language input methods may differ.
