Typing Tests Guide · 2 MIN READ

Choosing a Typing Test Duration

Choose a time that lets you measure the skill you want to compare.

Start with a familiar duration

A shorter general Typing Test can establish a baseline without a long commitment. Use comparable text and repeat the conditions before interpreting a change.

Use longer tests deliberately

A longer attempt asks you to maintain attention and pace through more material. It can reveal a reading or rhythm issue that a short burst does not show.

Keep the selected time visible

General Typing Tests have their own duration choices. In Exams, the 20 common English sets offer 20 or 30 minutes; Custom Exam Typing lets you choose 1-60 minutes for your own text.

Compare the whole result

Look at accuracy, pace and the conditions alongside WPM. Do not assume a lower result over a longer duration means you have lost the skill demonstrated in a short test.
