Common Beginner Mistakes
Recognise habits that make early practice harder than it needs to be.
Rushing unfamiliar keys
When a key is not familiar, guessing faster usually produces more corrections. Slow the pattern down, find the assigned finger and practise the reach before returning to a sentence.
Changing fingers constantly
Using a different finger whenever a key feels inconvenient makes the movement harder to repeat. Use the reference to choose a consistent pattern during learning, then give that pattern several sessions to settle.
Reading only one character
Looking at the next letter alone can create stop-start typing. As the keys become familiar, read a short word or phrase ahead while keeping your place in the source.
Comparing unlike sessions
An easy word drill and a long punctuated passage measure different demands. Compare similar activities before deciding that your typing has improved or declined.
