How to Increase WPM
Build a pace you can repeat on comparable text.
Establish a baseline
Choose a familiar passage and duration. Complete several sessions before deciding what your usual speed is. A single unusually easy or difficult result is not a dependable target.
Make a small increase
Try a slightly faster pace while keeping the same type of text. If you begin guessing keys or repeatedly losing your place, ease back and rebuild the sequence.
Read ahead
As key positions become familiar, read a short word or phrase ahead. This can reduce the pauses caused by discovering each letter only after you have finished the previous one.
Compare speed with accuracy
A higher gross WPM with many more mistakes may not be a useful improvement. Compare both measures and look for a pace that remains controlled over several sessions.
Put the guide into practice
Choose one focus for your next session.
