How to Start Learning Typing

Follow a small, repeatable learning plan instead of chasing a first-day score.

Start at the beginning

Open Learn and work through the first available lesson. The course introduces patterns in sequence. Complete the required lesson rather than skipping ahead because a later topic sounds more interesting.

Separate learning from testing

Use lessons to understand movements and practice to repeat them. A typing test is useful for checking a baseline, but repeating tests alone does not explain an unfamiliar key pattern.

Keep one focus

Choose one thing to notice during a session: returning to the home row, reading a whole word, or using the correct Shift key. Trying to fix every habit at once makes it difficult to see what changed.

Finish with a note

Remember one movement that became easier and one that still needs attention. Start the next session with that specific pattern. A manageable routine is easier to maintain than an ambitious plan you cannot repeat.

Put the guide into practice

Choose one focus for your next session.
