Common Sets and Custom Typing Rules

Understand the shared benchmark and the settings you can choose for your own text.

One standard for every common set

All 20 common English sets use the same KeyTute practice benchmark: at least 35 net WPM and 95% accuracy. Choose 20 or 30 minutes. Backspace and corrections are allowed; pause, restart and pasting into the typing area are disabled.

Custom settings are chosen before starting

Custom Exam Typing lets you paste English text, choose 1-60 minutes, set net-WPM and accuracy targets, and allow or forbid Backspace. It uses the same exam typing window. These are personal practice settings, not official examination rules.

Understand the shared scoring

Exam net scoring uses five characters per word and deducts weighted character errors per minute from gross WPM. Case, punctuation, spacing and line breaks count. Untyped text remaining at the end is not counted as an omission.

Keep practice results in context

The entry screen shows the settings that apply to your attempt. Common sets and custom text are KeyTute practice tools. For an actual examination, check the official requirements separately; KeyTute does not certify eligibility.
